( right after he'd put him to sleep, erik had gone into shock with his blood pressure dropping to a dangerously low level, but thankfully charles had managed to maintain that connection to erik's mind, and once the doctor had managed to get the necessary medication in him, erik had stopped convulsing. the whole ordeal had left charles with a bit of a nosebleed, but he's alright. he's relieved that the worst of it is over for now. )

( he's already spoken to the doctor and erik will need to be on an antibiotics treatment for a week, and then he'll need to return to the hospital again in ten days to get the staples removed. )
The thing is, you have got antibiotics being administered through IV for the night and I am beyond exhausted and don't trust myself to drive us home. ( he toes his shoes off and climbs into the bed, being careful not to cause erik any additional pain as he moves to lie down next to him. )

[ He likes Charles's room, it's cozy, even though it's rich. But it's approachable, like all he'd really wanted was lots of upholstered, comfortable spaces to lounge in.

( he chuckles in amusement at that. it certainly was a mistake to not have taken erik along. he'd somehow thought they could both use some time apart after having spent all this time together. what he really should have done instead was ask erik for his opinion about that, and invite him along. he only has himself to blame for all this. he'll make it up to him. )

But that's tomorrow's problem. And it's the only problem he has. Everything else is minor. He cuddles up to Charles, and tries to get some sleep, taking comfort in his presence and anchoring himself on his warmth and his scent.
( charles waits for erik to drift off to sleep, continuing to comb his fingers through his hair in gentle and slow motions. when he's sure erik's asleep, he gets rid of the illusion that they're in his room. he lies there in the quiet for a good minute, simply letting the time pass before he finally sucks in a deep breath and stops blocking everything out.
almost immediately charles is connected to the minds of the other patients in the hospital once again, feeling their pain and their suffering. as a child, he'd always hated hospitals for this very reason. being exposed to the things he wasn't yet ready to hear and feel, but he's used to it by now. charles closes his eyes, holds erik close, and gets to work doing what he can to reach the minds of those he's able to help. he puts them to sleep, takes away their pain, eases their suffering. it's only for a few hours. it's temporary. but it's what he chooses to do for the rest of the night.
the next morning, when erik wakes up, he'll see charles smiling brightly as he's having a chat with hank and raven. he's dressed in clean fresh clothes that raven brought from the house. the moment charles senses that erik's awake, he excuses himself and goes over to him. )

[ He doesn't care that Hank and Raven are watching, he steals a kiss. He knows that Charles doesn't like hospitals either, and had come with Erik to avoid him having a total breakdown in the hospital, and he appreciates it.
He appreciates even more that he's getting released, which makes him sit up and try moving out the IV himself, which prompts Raven to go over and stop him from doing that, explaining that there'd be a nurse for that. ]

[ Hank mumbles an apology which Erik quickly accepts and waves away. He just wants to go home, immediately. ]

( it's a good thing it's the weekend so charles can keep an eye on him without having to worry about work related matters. he also wants to get a bit of sleep himself since he'd stayed up all night.
