Gembonded Cultural Festival and Charity Dinner Events!

Hello, Noctium! Your characters are invited to assist in a three-day Gembonded Cultural Festival and Charity Dinner located in the Sapphire District of Sumarlok, at the Waterfront Park.

The festival is ICly running September 17th to September 19th, to help address the Noctian's potential feelings of xenophobia toward the Gembonded. It will be concurrent with elements of this month's Mod-led event, and is not in opposition or conflict with it!

All the Gembonded can host booths celebrating foods, arts, or other personal offerings from their home cultures or their time in Noctium; and/or perform on one of the festival stages over the course of all three days.

There are two silent charity auctions during the festival: one for items or experiences, and another for dates for a charity dinner on September 19th. Both silent actions raise charity funds for those affected by power outages and destruction during Rubina (July), especially in the Ruby Underground and Espera Village, following the end of the festival. (Is this also raising eyebrows at Glass's claims the Gembonded do nothing to assist? Hmm…)

FAQ:

What's the schedule for this event?
September 1st-7th: Sign-ups for booths, performances, and two Silent Auctions is open. Sign-ups close on the 7th at 23:59 UTC. New players accepted to game before that time can sign up as well.

September 8th-14th: OOC Plotting post and Bidding for the two Silent Auctions. Bids close on the 14th at 23:59 UTC. Silent Auction Items/Experience winners will be notified via comment. Players with characters receiving bids on Silent Date Auction should individually notify their chosen "winner."

September 15th: Event log, forward dated for September 17th-19th. This includes both the Gembonded Cultural Festival and Charity Dinner.

September 17th-19th: The IC dates of the Gembonded Culture Festival.

September 19th: The IC date of the Charity Dinner. People whose time was bid on in the Date Auction will escort their winning "Date." The dinner is being held in Primavera's capital, Oleander.
What can my character do to engage with this event?
They can attend! They can sign up to host a booth or offer some part of a culture experience to the Gems. They can perform during the festival. They can provide items or experiences for the silent auction. They can offer themselves for a date to the Charity Dinner on that Sunday, September 19th.
What kind of booths can my character host?
Foods, arts, and crafts, or any kind of good or service related to their home-world and/or home-nation (even in the thinnest sense). If someone wants to run a Maid Cafe or a Haunted House, go ahead! Booths are generally single stall, unless the Gembonded running one need a larger venue.
What kind of performance(s) can my character hold during the festival?
Anything a character would wish to do on a stage, small or large. Acceptable “performances” can include singing, dancing, instrument playing, magical show, acrobatic show, or anything else performative in nature, like light shows, shooting demos, etc. You can also participate in a RNG to offer the Charity Dinner performance.

Adult Performances can also be held, inside cooled tents, with age-verification on entry. These would be smaller, more personal groups and settings.
What kinds of items or experiences can my character offer for the Silent Auction?
Anything from items made or purchased, gift certificates, or experiences — which might mean taking people shopping, offering a course of martial arts training, or doing one-on-one demonstrations on safe Bondage practises. The sky's the limit! Or Nova Station, at least...
How can characters sign up to be part of the Silent Date Auction? Can someone else sign my character up?
Characters submit their names and profiles to be listed at the Silent Date Auction, through one of the PCs managing the hosting (these should be handwaved), or in the last minute rush on the Friday the festival begins. OOCly, characters are signed up by their players.

Note these are dates for the Charity Dinner at the end of the festival, where those whose company were "bid" on at auction provide company and (maybe) conversation at the dinner itself.
Can someone else sign my character up?
Yes. As long as you have OOC permission from a character's player, your character can sign up another character.
What's involved with the Charity Dinner?
Characters (and NPCs) must purchase tickets to attend the Charity Dinner, hosted in the cooler Primavera at its capital of Oleander. Those who were bid on at the Silent Date Auction are exempt. Anyone buying a ticket can attend the Charity Dinner, so characters are welcome to attend with friends, as a couple, on alone.

There will be a live Gembonded performance during the dinner. People will be seated around circular tables, and served communally, hotpot-style. Four broths will be on offer: two vegetarian, two meat-based, each offered with a no-spice and spicy-hot variety.
How long will sign-ups be open?
Sign-ups via the forms linked below will run from September 1st to September 7th at 23:59 UTC.

Bidding opens on a new OOC post on September 8th.
How will bidding be handled on the two Silent Auctions?
Bidding begins when the OOC plotting post of all booths, performances, and both Silent Auctions goes up on September 8th! Bidding on the Silent Auctions will run from then until September 14th, at 23:59 UTC.

Winners of the Silent Auctions for Items/Experiences will be informed via comment; if an item/experience has more bidders than it has available items/experiences, a Random Number Generator (RNG) will be used to assign the winner(s).

All Silent Date Auctions should have the players whose characters are being bid on select their "winner" by the time that the bidding closes. Only players can decide on the "winner" of their character's date auction.
Will characters have any generic booths they can offer to take shifts on?
The following booths will be looking for Gembonded to sign up to take shifts:
  • Dunk Tank
  • Facepainting
  • Portrait Drawing
  • Kissing Booth
  • Hugging Booth
  • Crystal Scale Fish Catching
  • Lantern Making (and Selling)
  • Riddle Solving
  • Hayrides
  • Fortune Telling
  • Gembonded Transformation Rides
  • Photo Booth (with accessories and masks and costumes to wear)
  • Arts and Crafts (such as bamboo leaf animals or boats/vehicles, beading necklaces or bracelets, fan painting)
These sign-ups will be available on the September 8th post, when the Silent Auction bidding begins. Characters should comment under whichever Booth they'd like to take a shift on, to then plot with anyone wanting to catch them there.
